Do you remember when you first felt tired and found that reducing activities and getting more rest hardly made a difference? This was your first sign of biochemical imbalance due to nutritional deficiencies or excesses. And since, have you felt an ongoing tiredness that comes and goes or is always with you? When at work around 3 p.m., do you have a difficult time concentrating or count the time until you can go home? When home, do all household/family responsibilities come before rest because you know that once you sit, you won't have the energy to get up and do more? Is it difficult to get up in the morning? These are signs of biochemical imbalances affecting your mental and physical function. If nutritional deficiencies and excesses are not corrected, the body progresses to organ and gland dysfunction; then to nutrition-related diseases. This is called the "Health Breakdown" Process. Tiredness is your first sign because when biochemical imbalances occur, energy gets rerouted to assist the dysfunctional organs/glands, leaving less for your mental and physical activities. You experience the Health Breakdown process as: Tiredness in Phase I (Onset of Nutritional Deficiencies/Excesses); Fatigue or Infrequent Pain in Phase II (Organ/Gland Dysfunction); and Chronic Fatigue or Constant Pain in Phase III (Nutrition-related Disease). Nutrition-related diseases include Diabetes, Fibromyalgia, Arthritis, Cardio-vascular and Gastro-intestinal Diseases, Inflammatory and Degenerative diseases, etc. When the body progresses through these Phases to where pain or chronic fatigue ensues, people seek medical examination and testing to determine the cause. If they are in Phase III, their physician diagnoses their disease and provides the proper treatment. If they are in Phase I or II, the non-disease stages where medical test results are normal, they seek clinical nutrition testing by a Board Certified Clinical Nutritionist (C.C.N.), naturopathic doctor, or other healthcare professional trained in clinical nutrition. People, who are unaware that professional clinical nutrition services are required to improve Phase I-II, may try over-the-counter (OTC) or mail order (MO) herbal and vitamin supplements recommended by a friend or health book. If they have minor nutritional deficiencies, their energy will return and they are grateful to find the solution to their tiredness. However, if they are in Phase I or II, though they may initially feel better; in time, they wonder if the supplements are doing them any good because they are still tired or in pain. This occurs because they are: 1) taking OTC/MO supplements, which are formulated for minor deficiencies and disease prevention, not Phase I and II "clinical" nutritional deficiencies/excesses. Just like over-the-counter drugs are not formulated for Phase III "medical" diseases/conditions, and/or 2) choosing supplements based upon "guesswork," which allows for errors in selection. Whereas, scientific nutrition testing helps them choose the right supplement every time. Whether in Phase I, II or III, correcting your nutritional deficiencies
and excesses will improve your health! Advanced Clinical Nutrition,
